The Rock Urged To Retire From WWE Forever
The Rock’s WWE career in total spans around 9 years, but the impact he made with the time he had was significant.
As a full-time performer between 1996 and 2004, he won multiple World Championships. He also became a five-time Tag Team Champion and a two-time Intercontinental Champion.
After his contract expired in mid-2004, he quit the promotion and pursued a full-time acting career.
Ever since, he has spearheaded many Hollywood projects, including his upcoming movie, The Smashing Machine, for which he received a 15-minute standing ovation at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
Just before the event, a video of The Rock surfaced online, showing he had shed a lot of weight, sparking speculations.
Former WWE star Stevie Richards hoped it was nothing serious during a recent episode of his The Stevie Richards Show podcast.
When asked if he felt that former champion was done with wrestling, Richards urged The People’s Champion to call it a day, as far his wrestling career went for one specific reason.
I hope so. I don’t know. I can never answer that because, you know, never say never, and he’s on the board of TKO. So, he’s involved with WWE. But man, I personally, selfishly, “Be done with it, Rock. I mean, you had a great run.” [10:28 onwards]
The Rock To Headline WrestleMania In Saudi Arabia?
WrestleMania has yet to move out of North America.
In its rich history of 41 years, the Show of Shows has either been held in the United States or in Canada.
In 2018, WWE signed a 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia in support of its Vision 2030 program, wherein it would host multiple events in the country.
Recent reports have suggested that Saudi Arabia may be pushing for an opportunity to host WrestleMania. A report from Wrestling Observer also claimed that fans hoped The Rock headlined that event.
Whether or not the plan goes through remains to be seen.
Elsewhere, a current WWE star has claimed being the “real People’s Champion,” not The Rock.
