The Rock Tells Cody Rhodes “F**k Your Story”
The Rock isn’t mincing words when it comes to his issues with Cody Rhodes on the Road to WrestleMania.
At the explosive WrestleMania 40 press event on February 8th, The Rock and Roman Reigns made it clear that they wanted to face eachother at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia on April 6th or April 7th. That was their plan from years earlier when Reigns started calling himself the “Head of the Table” of his family, which Rock is part of.
What Reigns and Rock didn’t realize is that Cody Rhodes decided to change his mind about when he’s going to face Roman Reigns. Cody had previously said it wouldn’t be at WrestleMania 40, but as the Royal Rumble winner, Cody had the right to do it at WrestleMania 40 and once he heard Reigns & Rock bragging about their potential, Cody said it would be him against Reigns at WrestleMania 40 instead.
There were words exchanged and at the press event, The Rock slapped Cody in the face. It was broken up quickly after. Cody has since challenged Rock to a singles match anywhere he wants it.
In a 21-minute video on Twitter/X and Instagram covering his WWE return, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson dove deeper into his heel persona to blast Cody for “taking” Rock’s spot in the WrestleMania 40 main event.
“Cody Rhodes, you took something from The Rock. You insulted my family, you took something from Roman Reigns, you took something from the millions and millions of the real fans wanted to see the biggest WrestleMania event of all time, you took it away! And now you are going to pay.”
At the end of the video, The Rock dropped an f-bomb for Cody.
“Cody Rhodes, from the bottom of my heart, man to man, f*ck your story!”
The Rock Explains What His Issue Is With Cody Rhodes
Elsewhere in the lengthy social media video, The Rock talked about being backstage with Cody Rhodes at the WrestleMania 40 press event in Las Vegas. Rock complained about Cody changing his mind that day when he heard that Reigns wanted to face Rock at WrestleMania. That led to Rock explaining that he thinks Cody screwed up when he “talked s**t” about Rock’s family.
“I saw you in Las Vegas 20 feet away backstage. The Rock gave you a hug. Did you say anything to The Rock then? “Hey Rock, I got something on my mind, it’s eating me up inside.” “Cody tell me about it, let’s go and talk in private.” Did you say any of that? No, you didn’t say a thing.”
“What did you do? You waited until Roman Reigns was out there and announced he was facing The Rock. Then The Rock went out there, showed the entire family tree, proof of the most dominant family in professional wrestling, in entertainment and in sports in the world. I accepted Roman Reigns’ challenge for the biggest match of all time, and what did you do? You came out and interrupted.”
“You said it was bullsh*t. You can think it’s bulls**t brother, not a problem. But you know where you really screwed up? Is when you talk s**t about my family. All the Cody Crybabies “No he didn’t!” Shut your mouth. You talk sh*t about my family, then you spoke about Roman’s grandfather and my grandfather the great High Chief Peter Maivia. I did to you Cody Rhodes what I would have done a million times, which is slap the taste right out of your mouth. And then what happened? [Laughs] The Rock embarrassed you in front of the world boy! Slapped the sh*t out of you.”
Obviously, this is all in character and it’s part of the show, but the fact that Rock is out there swearing on social media about this storyline does make fans pay more attention to it.
As for what’s next, The Rock will be on the March 1st episode of Smackdown with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.
