The Rock Tears Up Discussing Daughter’s WWE Career

The Rock with his daughter, Ava, on WWE NXT

The Rock got emotional as he commented on his daughter Ava’s WWE career.

While The Final Boss is one of the legendary names in wrestling history, his daughter, Ava, started her wrestling training at the WWE Performance Center five years ago.

The fourth-generation superstar debuted on NXT in 2022, becoming a member of Schism on NXT. When the faction disbanded the following year, the 24-year-old was given the position of Shawn Michaels’ on-screen assistant. She was later announced as the new NXT General Manager.

The Rock Is Proud Of His Daughter’s WWE Career

Ava recently accompanied her father to the UK special screening of his latest movie, The Smashing Machine. In an interview with MTV UK, The Rock was asked about his daughter carving her own path in the Stamford-based company.

The TKO board member got emotional and teared up as he stated that he was so proud of her for wanting to carve her own path and never asking him to use his influence to help her.

Oh man, I’m so proud of her. I got it. I’m gonna lock in. I’m so proud of her. It’s what I did, you know, and I love what I did. I love wrestling, grew up in wrestling. She was born into it, too, just like I was. And she said, ‘Hey, I wanna do what you do.’ but the difference is it’s like, it’s why I get emotional, cause she’s like, ‘I wanna do what you do, but I wanna carve my own path.’

The Rock added that although he would have interfered to help his daughter, he felt a sense of pride that he was never asked to by Ava.

That’s a difference. That was a big deal when I heard that, you know, because it’s easy I think for, you know, for any kid who wants to come up and do what their parents are doing to, maybe it’s not overt, but to utilize the influence. I’m telling you, you know, it never happened. I never got that call. Like, ‘Hey, can you call someone? Could do that.’ I never got that call and that’s the truth.

And that’s the thing that makes me proud. So, that’s why I’m like, when you don’t get that call. Look, I would have been there anyway. I would have made that call. But when you don’t get it, it gave me a profound sense of pride cause I, ‘Oh, I helped, with her mom, raise an amazing human being.’
