The Rock Will Star In Live Action Disney Movie

The Rock

The Rock is set to take on a starring role in a new live action Disney movie about monster trucks.

It has been a big year for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in terms of being a part of World Wrestling Entertainment. For the first time since 2013, Rock was regularly on WWE television during the build up of WrestleMania 40.

In the main event of WrestleMania 40 Saturday, The Rock & Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins in the main event. Rock pinned Cody Rhodes in that match, which could lead to a future Rock-Rhodes singles match.

Since WrestleMania, The Rock has been away from WWE filming a movie about MMA fighter Mark Kerr in which Rock has a different look due to the role he’s taking on.

As for future movie roles, during the D23 2024 event, Disney announced that Rock will star in a new Monster Jam movie about monster trucks, which led to Rock talking about the role.

“I love motorsports, I love monster trucks. I came to [Disney co-chair Alan Bergman] and Disney to create something here that is immersive and fun and live-action. From the POV of these incredible monster trucks. Eccentric and crazy drivers. Monster Jam is going to be a fun ride.”

The Rock Was Happy With WrestleMania 40 Match

While speaking to ESPN earlier this year, The Rock spoke about how much he enjoyed the WrestleMania 40 Saturday main event with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

“We were rolling the dice, and, as you saw, everything worked out, I thought, phenomenally well.”

“We connected with that big Cody Cutter off the ropes, which required insane f—ing timing, which we had never done before. We were like, all right, we have some confidence in our abilities here. When he hit me with that and the way the crowd responded, I remember laying there and just being so f—ing happy, but I don’t want to laugh or smile.”

“My very first lockup with Seth Rollins, that’s when it all clicked. It’s like you have a shift-and-click moment. It’s riding the bicycle. Then he tagged in Cody. First time ever, I locked up with Cody and the lockup feels good.”

“The moment you lock up with somebody in our world of pro wrestling, you immediately know what kind of wrestler they are, if they’re going to be stiff, if they’re going to be smooth, if they’re going to be intense, if they’re going to be in control. Both guys smooth, in control.”

Later this year, Rock will be in two new movies including the Christmas action-comedy ‘Red One‘, due to be released on November 15th while ‘Moana 2’, in which The Rock will reprise his famed role as Maui, is scheduled to reach cinemas on November 26th.
