The Rock Reveals Truth Behind Massive Weight Loss
The Rock has shed a shocking amount of weight recently, and now he’s finally explained why.
At Elimination Chamber in February 2025, The Rock was on hand to light the fuse on John Cena’s shocking heel turn. The Final Boss opened the door for Cody Rhodes to align with him, but when Rhodes forcefully declined that offer, John Cena turned on Rhodes before Cena, The Rock, and Travis Scott laid a vicious beating on The American Nightmare.
WWE fans expected to see The Rock back in the company throughout the year, especially at WrestleMania 41, but he remained conspicuous by his absence.
During his time away from WWE, The Rock has been focusing on his Hollywood career. And judging by new footage of the star, which has appeared online, he’s been slimming down dramatically.
One AEW star thought The Rock had some of his trademark good looks as a result of the weight loss, but now the star himself has explained the real reason he’s dropped so many pounds.
The Rock Playing A Chicken Man
According to Variety, The Rock has dropped weight to play a role as a “whimsical, eccentric 70-something year-old” called Chicken Man in “Lizard Music.” The movie is set to be directed by Benny Safdie, who directed The Rock in The Smashing Machine.
Speaking at the Toronto Film Festival, The Rock explained how his role in the film came to be:
Benny pitched me this after. And after about 45 minutes, this pitch ended and I said, ‘I am your Chicken Man.’
The Rock noted he “still had a long way to go” with his weight loss despite losing most of the 30 pounds of muscle he packed on to play troubled ex-UFC star Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine. That role has got plenty of people in Hollywood talking about a possible Oscar nomination for the WWE icon.
