The Rock Comments On “Really Incredible” WWE Merger
Even The Rock never thought Vince McMahon would hand over control of WWE.
September 12th, 2023 will go down in history as the day the wrestling world changed forever when the Endeavor takeover of WWE was completed and the sports entertainment giant was merged with UFC under the umbrella of TKO Group.
On the first SmackDown of the new era, fans in Denver were treated to a surprise when Pat McAfee appeared on the show but McAfee was only the beginning as he was soon joined by The Rock who made his way to the ring to a thunderous ovation.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, The Rock gave his thoughts on the Endeavor takeover and thinks it is reflective of Vince McMahon’s overall approach to business over the years:
“We go way back. No, I never thought he would sell the company but I’m not surprised because he’s always about big picture, he’s always about growth. You think about where he’s come from, from his first WrestleMania to now what the company is valued at, and this merger is really incredible.”
The Rock breaks records for WWE
Taking to social media, The Rock responded to his record-breaking appearance after it had been viewed well over 100 million times as he showed love for the place he still refers to as his home:
“I’ll raise a glass to breaking records together Thank you for the unforgettable memory (and insane crowd reaction) No place like home @WWE#PeoplesChamp#WWEFamily”
The People’s Champion raised eyebrows before his return to the WWE ring when he revealed that it had been a done deal for him to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 before plans changed.
