The Rock Highlights Daughter Ava’s Moment That Made Him Proud
The Rock has revealed that he is a proud father.
The People’s Champion was in the United Kingdom for a special screening of his upcoming film, The Smashing Machine.
Accompanying him to the event was his 24-year-old daughter, Ava, who serves as the WWE NXT General Manager.
Speaking to MTV UK, The Rock was asked about Ava’s progress in the Stamford promotion. The 53-year-old choked up, saying he was proud that she was able to do it without using his influence.
I am so proud of her, because it’s what I did, and I love what I did, I love wrestling, I grew up in wrestling. She was born into it too just like I was, and when she said, ‘Hey I wanna do what you do’ – but the difference is, it’s why I get emotional, because she’s like, ‘I wanna do what you do, but I wanna carve my own path.’ That’s the difference.
That was a big deal when I heard that. Because it’s easy I think for any kid who want to come up and do what their parents are doing to… maybe it’s not overt, but to utilize the influence. I’m telling you, it never happened. I never got that call. Like hey, ‘Can you call someone, could you…’ – I never got that call. And that’s the truth.
And that’s the thing that makes me proud. Look, I’d have been there anyway, I would have made that call, but when you don’t get it, it gave me a profound sense of pride, because I helped, with her mom, raise an amazing human being. [H/T: WrestleTalk]
