The Rock Announces WWE Return
The Rock will be back on WWE television very soon.
In recent weeks rumours have grown ever stronger that The Rock won’t compete at WrestleMania and WWE is pressing on with plans without him. However, it seems the man himself is determined to keep fans guessing.
It’s been announced that the Hollywood megastar will be appearing on the February 21 edition of SmackDown.
Acknowledging the creative chaos Rock caused in 2024 during WrestleMania season, Triple H commented that “everything could change in an instant.”

February 20, 2025 – WWE, part of TKO Group Holdings (NYSE: TKO), today announced that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will appear on SmackDown – live from Smoothie King Center in New Orleans – tomorrow night at 8pm ET on USA Network.
“Strap in,” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. “When The Final Boss shows up at this time of year, the audience knows absolutely anything is possible. Everything could change in an instant.”
In a comment to the announcement on Instagram, The Rock wrote:
The Final Boss is coming to handle business, deliver a big beautiful gift to the city of New Orleans and f*ck up a certain someone’s life with the Final Boss gospel. 🤫

The reference to a gift has sparked speculation he will announce that WrestleMania 42 will be held in New Orleans. The event was held in the city in 2014 and 2018, and recent reports suggested an announcement would be made in the lead-up to this year’s spectacular.
The Rock To Star In New Martin Scorsese Movie
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that The Rock is set to team up with Leonardo DiCaprio, Emily Blunt, and legendary director Martin Scorsese in a new crime drama that’s already got Hollywood buzzing.
The movie which is yet to be written will chart the rise of a real-life Hawaii crime boss during the 1960s and 1970s.
The as-yet-unnamed film will be based on a true untold story, described as “the last great American mob saga.”
