The Reason WWE Keeping Joe Hendry Teases Small Revealed
After another Joe Hendry sighting on NXT, it seems the TNA star is a wanted man by WWE.
On the June 18th episode of NXT, TNA star Joe Hendry made his long-awaited debut with WWE’s third brand as the partnership between WWE and TNA continued. Hendry and his TNA rival Frankie Kazarian were both part of a battle royal to find the next contender to Trick Williams’ NXT Championship.
Joe Hendry was immediately eliminated causing the crowd to chant “bullsh*t” and it seems the fans kept saying his name because at Heatwave, the Scottish star appeared.
At NXT Heatwave in Toronto, Ethan Page captured the NXT Championship in heartbreaking fashion from Trick Williams after a hard-fought fatal four-way match.
As Ethan Page celebrated with his gold in the ring, Joe Hendry’s now famous turn and smile filled the screen as NXT Heatwave went off the air.
WWE Has Plans For Joe Hendry
Fightful Select has now reported that there are plans to use Hendry “heavily” as part of the NXT/TNA crossover in the coming months. WWE are hoping to capitalise on Hendry’s knack of going viral and the company believe small teases such as the one seen at the end of Heatwave will be enough to get people interested.
There are said to be more short bursts of Joe Hendry coming to NXT to build his next appearance on the brand. The response when the question of if WWE had an interest in signing Hendry when his TNA deal ends was “Who wouldn’t?”
When Joe Hendry next gets in the ring for WWE remains to be seen but he’ll have to be focused on his day job as he will be part of a six-way elimination match for the TNA World Championship at Slammiversary on July 20th. Moose will put his title on the line against Hendry, Frankie Kazarian, Nic Nemeth, Josh Alexander, and Steve Maclin in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
