The Miz Reacts To Comparisons With NXT Star
The Miz has dismissed comparisons between him and an up-and-coming NXT star who he says “is his own person”.
Over the course of his near two-decade WWE career, The Miz has come to be regarded as one of the top heels ever seen in the company. In fact, in 2011 he was named the Most Hated Wrestler of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated. From his work on the mic to his presentation in the ring, Miz exudes the kind of arrogant heelish attitude matched only by a few.
However, the former WWE Champion might have some competition in the near future as up-and-coming NXT star Grayson Waller has begun earning himself comparisons to The Miz in recent months due to his similar level of cockiness and in-ring style.
On the latest edition of WWE’s The Bump, where both he and Grayson Waller were guests, The Miz addressed these comparisons saying that he doesn’t see the similarities. Instead, he thinks Waller is “an originator” who is everything you could want in a top star.
“I look at Grayson Waller as an originator. I don’t see the comparisons between myself and him. He’s his own character, he’s his own person. He’s confident, he’s agile, athletic, he’s everything you want in a main event WWE Superstar. I think he’s doing exactly what he needs to do to propel himself to even bigger superstardom.”
Grayson Waller signed with WWE back in March 2021 and has already been involved in a number of marquee matches and segments.
These have included assaulting Johnny Gargano in his final NXT appearance last December and taking on AJ Styles in a cross-brand Raw vs. NXT match.
