The Miz Discusses Possibility Of Two Major NFL Stars Joining WWE
The Miz has explained why two future Hall of Fame NFL players would be great fits in the WWE Universe.
It is well-known among WWE fans that The Miz is a huge fan of his Cleveland pro sports teams whether it’s the NFL’s Browns, NBA’s Cavaliers, or MLB’s Guardians. The Miz’s super fandom has even led to him appearing at games of those teams while also announcing a Browns NFL Draft pick in the past.
At WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, The Miz was the guest host of the two-night event along with WWE Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg. It didn’t go that well for MIz since he lost matches to WWE announcer Pat McAfee and Snoop himself (after Shane McMahon was hurt). During Miz’s match with McAfee, he was also beat up by superstar San Francisco 49ers Tight End George Kittle, who is a huge wrestling and perhaps a future WWE star.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, The Miz talked about another great NFL TE Travis Kelce, who has won three Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs and perhaps more famously, is the boyfriend of massive music star Taylor Swift. Travis’ brother Jason recently retired from the Philadelphia Eagles as a legendary center. The Kelce Bros also have a successful podcast together. Both Kelce Brothers will likely make the NFL some day, which is pretty rare for two brothers to do.
Since The Kelce Brothers are from the Cleveland area and they have both delivered legendary speeches after big football wins, The Miz was asked about the talented brothers and their WWE potential.
“The way I look at is [as] more of a fan of the Kelces. I’ve played golf with Travis, and what an incredible human being. Even when we were golfing, I was like, ‘When are you coming to WWE? When are you coming to WrestleMania? Jason, I’ve never met him, but those are Cleveland guys, and that guy, he’s played for Philadelphia, it seems like a home run to me. But who knows? He’s retired. He might just want to relax and chill out. Or he’d like to come to Philadelphia for WrestleMania.”
When asked if he would even train Jason Kelce for a WWE career, The Miz said he was open to doing that.
“Hell yeah. I’d train him into a superstar. As big of a superstar as he is in the NFL, we’ll make him as big of a superstar in WWE. He could be very dangerous in a WWE ring. Not only with just the athleticism and the wrestling, which I think he could absolutely do. I’ve watched him jump up at a Bila game from down, and jump up into a window. I was like, ‘Oh my god, this guy’s 300 pounds. How did he do that? That’s incredible.’”
“Then the athleticism you see on the football field, but then the charisma [too], the ability to talk on a microphone and be captivating and innovative is something that I think he just has a knack for. So whatever I think Jason Kelce wants to do, whether it is to come to WWE for WrestleMania, wink, or do something in podcasting, which he already is, or if he wants to just do something in the NFL, coaching, whatever he wants to do, I think the world’s his oyster.”
The Miz Set For Huge Match At WrestleMania 40
As for The Miz’s role at WrestleMania 40, he will team up with R-Truth in the Six-Pack Ladder Match for the WWE Tag Team Titles. The Miz & Truth qualified for the Ladder Match by beating Indus Sher on the March 18th edition of Raw.
It has also been a difficult start to 2024 for The Miz’s family since his wife Maryse underwent a painful operation. The good news is that Maryse is tumor-free and hopefully has a long life with The Miz and their two daughters.
