The Hurt Business May Expand Soon
The rumors of The Hurt Business reforming in WWE are going strong, but the return of the group may lead to at least one more wrestler joining the original four.
During the “pandemic era” WWE, The Hurt Business group was very successful. Bobby Lashley had reigns as the US Champion and WWE Champion while The Hurt Business was together. They also had Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander, who were the Raw Tag Team Champions.
Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) was the mastermind of the group that served as a manager/mentor that sometimes wrestled as well.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE has discussed the possibility of adding former two-time NXT North American Carmelo Hayes to the group.
“It has been batted around the idea of Hayes in the Hurt Business with MVP, Benjamin, Alexander and Lashley. That was a discussion and not definite. But there has been talk of Hayes coming to the main roster. It probably wouldn’t happen until after April since Bron Breakker vs. Hayes looks to be the main event of the 4/1 NXT show in Los Angeles.”
As noted above, the main event of NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend will likely see Bron Breakker defending the NXT Championship against Carmelo Hayes. Despite being the two biggest male stars in NXT over the last 18 months, the match has likely been saved for Stand & Deliver. Both men have certainly teased it in recent weeks. After that, Hayes and/or Breakker could be ready for a main roster call up to Raw or Smackdown.
Recently, MVP talked about putting The Hurt Business back together while he has also appeared at ringside during Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander tag team matches.
Bobby Lashley faces Brock Lesnar this Saturday, February 18th at WWE Elimination Chamber. There is some belief that Lashley could win due to The Hurt Business helping him as a way to bring the group back together.
