Wrestling Legend Calls The Bloodline “Greatest Thing I’ve Ever Seen”

A wrestling legend has praised The Bloodline storyline in WWE as the “greatest thing I’ve ever seen” in pro wrestling.

When it comes to telling stories in professional wrestling, Kevin Sullivan is a man that knows a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t. During his long career in pro wrestling, he was a very successful wrestler and booker, including a long run in World Championship Wrestling. Recently, he praised The Bloodline heavily.

The Bloodline storyline in WWE involving the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and his family (along with Sami Zayn) started three years ago on August 30, 2020 when Reigns won the Universal Title to start his heel run. At its peak, the group also included Roman’s cousins The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso), Sami Zayn, The Usos younger brother Solo Sikoa – who joined in September 2022 and the Wise Man, Special Counsel Paul Heyman.

Since then, Reigns has been the top champion in WWE for well over 1,000 days while The Usos had the longest reigning Tag Team Title run ever at 622 days.

For most of 2022, The Bloodline also brought in Sami Zayn as an Honorary Uce to support the group. While Zayn was loyal throughout most of the year, the “Tribal Chief” Reigns doubted him. Eventually, Zayn fired back at the Royal Rumble. That led to Zayn and best friend Kevin Owens beating The Usos for the Tag Team Titles in the main event of WrestleMania 39 Saturday.

Over the last two months, The Usos have split from The Bloodline as well. At Money in the Bank earlier this month, The Usos beat Reigns & Sikoa in a Bloodline Civil War match with Jey pinning Reigns. The significance of that is that it was the first time Reigns has been pinned since December 2019. All of this should lead to Reigns facing Jey at SummerSlam on August 5th.

In an exclusive interview with Nick Hausman for Inside The Ropes, Kevin Sullivan (aka The Taskmaster) was asked if he was ahead of the curve in terms of telling stories in pro wrestling, which led to his praise for The Bloodline.

“I don’t know if I actually thought I was, but I figured that had to be the way to go. Look at I’ve been around for a long time. Right? I think The Bloodline’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.”

As Kevin Sullivan continued, they spoke about the 40-minute segment featuring The Bloodline on Smackdown on July 7th at MSG which was just promos and a violent brawl after that. Sullivan would then go on to praise Roman Reigns for elevating the others around him.

“How many dropkicks did you see during that match? There was no match. 40 minutes of entertaining things. It was just talking. But they had built that story from day one, they didn’t rush it.

And here’s the thing. I was involved in the nWo. When we were doing it, we’re smashing the babyfaces and killing them to get the nWo over right, we made the nWo stronger than WCW.

Roman [Reigns] during this purge of terror that he’s been on, has made Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Cody, you could go down the line — Jey and Jimmy. There’s a whole list that he’s made babyfaces while they’ve been the centre of attention. It’s pretty amazing to me.”

Roman Reigns and Jey Uso are set for a “Rules of Engagement” segment this Friday on Smackdown as The Bloodline saga continues.
