Swerve Strickland Issues Warning To Incoming AEW Stars

Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland has issued a warning to anyone wanting to join the AEW roster as he discusses the possibility of an ex-WWE star becoming All Elite.

In recent weeks it became apparent that Ricochet was heading out of WWE as his current deal with the company came to an end. Recently, several stars in the company have signed new deals as they neared the end of their old ones but Ricochet is said to have made clear that he would not be re-signing and was on his way out.

That led to plenty of speculation that the high-flying star was on his way to AEW and despite Tony Khan refusing to initially discuss Ricochet, the AEW boss recently changed his tune which could be the clearest sign yet that Ricochet is on his way to the company.

Swerve Strickland Warns Competition Is Stiff In AEW

Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Swerve Strickland was asked about facing Ricochet again should he join AEW and warned anyone joining the roster they need to step up and adapt quickly:

I mean, we’ve (Swerve & Ricochet) had our matches without the masks in MLW. We’ve had Strickland versus Ricochet before. It’s up to him. I don’t know. We’ll see.

Competition’s stiff in AEW and there’s also a different type of ladder to climb in a lot of different ways here. It doesn’t necessarily make it easier. It’s difficulties on both sides of things, and you gotta adapt.

AEW is — now more than ever, you gotta be an adaptable performer, way more so in AEW nowadays and so, if that’s true, get ready to put a different type of working boots on, and there’s a lot of people that don’t wanna make it easy, for anybody. It’s already not easy for me in the position I’m in. So, I’ve been in the position of the new guy coming in and I had to adapt. A lot of people have tried to adapt and they couldn’t do it.

So, that goes to show you the type of locker room, the type of talent, the type of energy, the type of workload that comes in AEW.

Swerve Strickland was part of Team AEW that won Blood & Guts and Strickland knows he has more challenges facing him as he’ll defend his AEW World Championship at All In against Bryan Danielson.
