Surprising AEW Star Hits Back At CM Punk

CM Punk caused a stir with his comments on his time in AEW and now an unlikely star in the company has seemingly taken issue with them.

CM Punk was fired by AEW in September 2023 after a backstage fight with Jack Perry at All In – not Punk’s first backstage issue in the company. Punk shocked the world just a few short weeks later when he rejoined WWE almost ten years after he walked out of the company.

CM Punk blasted AEW as not a real business and Tony Khan as not a real boss in a recent interview where he finally lifted the lid on his ill-fated time in the company. And now there are those in AEW fighting back.

AEW’s Dax Harwood Responds To CM Punk

After Collision – taped on the 3rd of April – Dax Harwood had his say on the situation with remarks that might surprise some that have been shared widely on social media. CM Punk and FTR had been closely associated on AEW television and behind the scenes, but Harwood told those listening to not anyone strip them of their joy – even if they work in another company:

With it being someone’s dream, with it being all of our dreams, there‘s always gonna be…you probably know this, in your everyday life, there’s gonna be somebody who tries to strip it down, strip it from you, take it away from you, take your joy away. Don’t let them do it. Don’t let them. I don’t care if they’re in real life. I don’t care if it’s on fake life, social media. I don’t care if it’s in another company. Don’t let anybody strip you of what you love, what you’re passionate about, what you wake up for every single day.

I know I talk about it, I talk about it to the point of annoyance. I have what kind of perceive to be my god, my side, my daughter, and professional wrestling, and that’s it. That’s all I got, and AEW affords me that luxury. AEW affords me that life, and now, not only does AEW afford me that life, they afford me to do it with my best friends in front of all you people.

Adam Copeland opened Dynamite by dismissing the “negative BS” that has been said in response to Punk’s comments as he vowed to bring back the positivity to AEW.
