Steve Austin Laughs Off Pitch For Match With WWE Legend

Steve Austin

Steve Austin isn’t in a rush to renew one of his most famous rivalries.

By the time WrestleMania 15 rolled around the Texas Rattlesnake was firmly positioned at the top of the WWE tree and was arguably the biggest star in the entire wrestling business.

At the event in Philadelphia, Austin defeated The Rock to win the WWF Championship in the first of three classic WrestleMania matches between the pair.

With WWE heading back to Philadelphia for WrestleMania 40, the Hall of Famer was asked by Sports Illustrated about the prospect of getting back in the ring against The Great One. In response, Austin joked that the match would be in slow motion.

“I think that would be in slow motion,” said Austin with a laugh. “I don’t know about that, but Philly would be a great place for it to happen. I worked with The Rock at WrestleMania XV, and we rocked the house. I pinned his shoulders to the mat, one-two-three. But I don’t know about that happening now.”

While he might not be stepping in the ring with Austin, speculation is running wild that The Rock could face Roman Reigns at the spectacular.

When Did Steve Austin Last Wrestle?

After having what was thought to be his final match against The Rock at WrestleMania 19, Austin dusted off his boots one more time to face Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 39.

Despite being retired for two decades, Austin rolled back the years to turn in an impressive performance. This led to speculation that he could wrestle again in the future.

Following his return to WWE, CM Punk reportedly held talks with the company over a match with Austin.
