Steve Austin Possibly Interested In Wrestling Again
Steve Austin headlined WrestleMania 38 night one and a new report has shed some light on the possibility that he could step into the WWE ring again.
When “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was announced for his WrestleMania 38 appearance, he was not announced for a match. Instead, Austin was going to be the guest on the Kevin Owens Show in the main event of night one of WrestleMania.
As the build to WrestleMania continued, there were a lot of rumors about the possibility of Austin jumping back into the ring for the first time since he retired at WrestleMania XIX, which was 19 years earlier.
The Owens-Austin interview segment led to a match where Austin wrestled in a t-shirt the whole time because as a 57-year-old that was still in good shape, Austin probably didn’t want to compete shirtless like he did throughout his career. Austin went on to beat Owens in a competitive match.
Austin’s WrestleMania 38 experience didn’t end on night one because he also appeared on night two for some fun that included a stunner on former WWE Chairman/Austin’s long-term on-screen rival Vince McMahon as well. Fans that attended WrestleMania 38 in Dallas got to see a lot of Austin during that weekend.
Looking further ahead, the @Wrestlevotes Twitter account has revealed some information to GiveMeSport about Austin possibly competing in a WWE ring again.
“I know that he had a wonderful time doing it last year in Dallas. He was happy, he was elated. Let’s say that the performance of the match, everything went so well and people loved it so much. So I know he was thrilled to post WrestleMania. And I’d say he was open to doing it again.”
With that said, WrestleVotes that there was no confirmation that Austin will wrestle again, but he might be willing to try it again.
Speaking further, Wrestlevotes added that if The Rock appears at WrestleMania then perhaps WWE could opt to have Austin in a match at SummerSlam next year.
“If you’re gonna get The Rock, do you need both of them? As much as people would say absolutely, with all the shows that they do in stadiums now, and I understand WrestleMania is your biggest one, but you could do Rock at WrestleMania and Steve Austin at SummerSlam. That makes more sense.”
There is no official confirmation that The Rock will be competing at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, but it has been a rumor for several years with Rock competing against his cousin Roman Reigns. The Rock, just like Austin, is an interesting rumor for now.
