Ex-WWE Champion Gets Emotional Addressing Relationship With Stephanie McMahon

A former champion in WWE is grateful for the friendship he has with Stephanie McMahon.

During her WWE career, 2026 Hall of Famer Stephanie McMahon has held many roles behind the scenes and on-screen.

As a television character, Stephanie was usually portrayed as a mean boss whom fans loved to boo. On the business side, she was a key part of the creative team while also serving as an executive at the company, under her father, Vince McMahon, and with her husband, Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

For many wrestlers on the roster, Stephanie was someone they liked a lot for her positive attitude.

On a recent episode of Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Hornswoggle was a guest. Hornswoggle worked for WWE for about a decade after starting in 2006. During their discussion, Hornswoggle credited Stephanie McMahon for supporting him so well during his career.

“I wanna thank you for being my number one supporter in my time with WWE and post. You have been my number one supporter. So I was doing the storyline where we were kind of brother and sister.

And I was going through a breakup at the time, and I was going through a bad spot in my life, and it was in Milwaukee, and I remember you pulling me aside, and you going, “Hey, I know you’re going through a lot right now, but this, and everything you’re gonna do, is really gonna help take your mind off it.”

The brother-sister remark from Hornswoggle was a reference to the storyline where Vince McMahon had a bastard son, and Hornswoggle was announced as the son. The original plan was Mr. Kennedy, but it didn’t work out for a number of reasons, so WWE went the comedic route by picking Hornswoggle for the role, until they eventually got out of it.

Stephanie McMahon Remains A Hornswoggle Supporter

Even though Hornswoggle has been away from WWE since 2016, Stephanie McMahon still supports him and has promoted his book. Hornswoggle praised Stephanie for it.

“And you were always one to respond to me immediately. And if not immediately, pretty fast. As crazy busy as you’ve always been, that is something I really take to heart. And going into today, Landon (Hornswoggle’s son) goes, “You and her have a good relationship, huh?” I said, “Yeah.” And it’s always been something that I’ve never taken for granted.

And I’ve always been very, very, I hate this, been very, very happy for. And you did a tweet about the book and you didn’t need to do that. I was fully outta the company at the time.”

Whether Hornswoggle makes the WWE Hall of Fame like Stephanie McMahon is unknown, but he does have a WWE Legends Deal and will always be somebody who fans will remember.
