Potential Spoiler On Rey Mysterio Vs Santos Escobar Feud

Santos Escobar attacks Rey Mysterio

Santos Escobar is about to get some help in his fight with Rey Mysterio.

On the November 10th episode of SmackDown, Santos Escobar turned his back on Rey Mysterio and the LWO, attacking the legend, and stunning his stablemates. With Mysterio set for a spell on the sidelines, Escobar will battle Carlito at Survivor Series.

Although Mysterio won’t be involved, reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer believes the match could have big implications for the feud going forward, with Los Lotharios set to be involved.

“Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo were planned for this at least as of the past week.

Meltzer went on to discuss how the group warfare could play out, with Dragon Lee another potential name who could be involved.

“Regarding the LWO split, the original idea was for Wilde & Del Toro to stay with Escobar and feud with Rey & Carlito & a third person. From TV that would make sense to be Dragon Lee, as the idea of Lee being the guy they are hoping can be a future Mysterio-style flying so aligning them doing the endorsement thing would make sense.

The Garzas are the ones who are scheduled at this point to replace Wilde & Del Toro on the Escobar side. There’s speculation of Lopez, who was with Escobar in NXT, being on that side to feud with Vega but that is not at all confirmed.”

Rey Mysterio Had Been Struggling With Knee Injury

On November 14th it was revealed that Mysterio had undergone knee surgery to repair a meniscus. This was followed by a report that stated Rey Mysterio had been working with the injury for three months. However, with the issue getting progressively worse the decision was taken for him to lose the United States Title to Logan Paul and be written off television.

The WWE Hall of Famer is expected to return to action in early 2024.
