Some Within AEW Frustrated With Tony Khan

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan’s insistence that AEW is better than ever is not going down well with everyone backstage.

It was recently reported that morale within AEW is as high as ever and everyone is determined to push the company forward. The promotion is anticipating a huge night at Revolution when Sting brings the curtain down on his in-ring career, while Kazuchika Okada and Mercedes Mone are expected to debut within weeks.

Will Ospreay will also be at Revolution to take on Konosuke Takeshita as he begins his career with the company.

However, despite Khan often touting AEW’s financial success, some feel he might be burying his head in the sand.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that some people are becoming increasingly frustrated with Khan as they feel he’s ignoring the smaller live crowds, and the company is actually declining.

“There is also frustration from a lot of circles since talent comes to the shows and sees the smaller crowds since the start of the year. Khan always paints a positive picture about the company being stronger due to increased revenues, or bringing up ratings, and there’s the feeling that popularity is declining overall and changes have to be made to turn it around and he’s acting like everything is fine.”

Tony Khan Makes Two Additions To Backstage Team

Aside from on-screen talents, Tony Khan has reportedly brought in Rocky Romero and QT Marshall has agreed to return. Romero is said to be involved in talent development and training wrestlers, while Marshall will also be involved in training.

Marshall left AEW at the end of 2023 after reportedly becoming frustrated with the direction the company heading. Although Marshall will start back with AEW soon he won’t be an on-screen character but remains free to wrestle outside of the company with anyone except WWE.
