SmackDown Star “Ready” For WWE World Heavyweight Title
With the inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion set to be crowned this month, one SmackDown star feels they’d be prepared if they won it.
Despite already being seen on our television screens on plenty of occasions, the TV time and profile of Santos Escobar has raised in recent weeks with the formation of the LWO. Whilst not the most successful in their matches to this point, teaming with the likes of Rey Mysterio, Joaquin Wilde and Zelina Vega, the stable can be deemed a success for all involved.
However, it would seem Escobar is on the hunt for his first gold since joining the main roster. The former NXT North American Champion has his sights set on the newly-formed World Heavyweight Championship.
In a discussion with Phil Strum on Under The Ring, Santos commented that he feels his time has come and he would be “ready” if he won the title.
I just saw Triple H announce a new championship. I feel ready for that. That’s how high my note is right now.
The drawback for Escobar is that the draft has put him on SmackDown this week, whilst the new title belt will be on the roster due to the fact Roman Reigns was the number one pick for the blue brand.
The inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion is due to be decided at Night Of Champions, taking place in Saudi Arabia on 27th May. ‘The Head Of The Table’ will also no doubt defend at the show, however apparently a number of ideas Vince McMahon has come up with for his opponent have been “scoffed at”.
