Shocking End to WWE NXT Gold Rush Sees Major Title Change

The main event of NXT Gold Rush proved to be worth the wait as it ended the first week of this two-week special on a high note. The card had already seen three title matches take place on the night, but saved the biggest one for last.

NXT Women’s Champion Tatum Paxley defended her title against former champion Jacy Jayne in the main event. Paxley defeated Jayne to win the title in the first place at last month’s Halloween Havoc and only agreed to the rematch under one condition.

Jacy Jayne wrestled the match knowing that if she lost tonight, she wouldn’t be able to challenge for the championship again, till Tatum Paxley is the champion.

Both Paxley and Jayne had their moments in the match and the latter came close to winning back her belt on multiple occasions. Just when it seemed that Paxley would get away with the win tonight, the biggest shock of the night took place.

Tatum Paxley’s stablemate, Izzi Dame, who had been trying to help her throughout the match, turned on her friend and attacked her behind the referee’s back. This allowed Jacy Jayne to hit her finisher on an already knocked out Paxley to become a two-time NXT Women’s Champion.
