Shawn Michaels Names Top WWE Star As Opponent If He Had One More Match

Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels has a legendary WWE superstar in mind as a potential opponent if he were to compete in the ring again.

In his current role as WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is a coach, mentor, and head booker of the NXT brand.

During his incredible 20+ years as an active wrestler, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels is regarded by many people as one of the greatest in-ring performers ever. They didn’t call him Mr. WrestleMania because of his win-loss record. They called him that because of the number of amazing matches he had in his career on the grandest stage of them all.

At WrestleMania 26 in 2010, Michaels retired after losing to The Undertaker in an incredible match. Eight years later at Crown Jewel 2018, Michaels did have one more match as he teamed with Triple H against The Undertaker and Kane in a match that turned out to be a disaster but did get all four men a big payday.

Who Would Shawn Michaels Wrestle If He Had One More Match?

Shawn Michaels is 58 years old and mostly stays off TV, so the likelihood of him wrestling again appears to be unlikely. However, he was asked by Gorilla Position recently if he had somebody in mind if there was going to be one more match. For that, Michaels answered with former WWE Champion AJ Styles.

“I think the one we really want to see is me and AJ (Styles). That’s where I go with. It’s also as the more talent comes along, you start looking at them. I always, I still do it now. I look at it like, boy, I can do cool stuff with him. I can do cool stuff with him.”

“But I think AJ, I think AJ and I can get similar styles and stuff like that. So I always feel like that would be one people would want to see. So I think that would be my go-to in this particular moment.”

AJ Styles picked up a big win on Smackdown in Detroit when he defeated Rey Mysterio and Kevin Owens in a triple threat match. Next week on Smackdown, Styles will get a WrestleMania 40 rematch against LA Knight in a match where the winner will face WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Backlash.
