Several Hall Of Famers Film New WWE Content
A WWE Hall of Famer has looked back on their recent SmackDown appearance.
On September 13th, WWE SmackDown returned to the USA Network after a five-year run with Fox. To celebrate, the company pulled out all the stops with the Cage Match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa for the Undisputed WWE Title opening the show.
The episode also featured the return of Roman Reigns as the star set up his match at Bad Blood. At the event in October, Reigns will team with Rhodes to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.
Meanwhile, several Hall of Famers and veterans were also watching the action from ringside, with Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Sharmell, Teddy Long, and former General Manager Vickie Guerrero all shown on screen.
During the latest episode of his 1 of a Kind podcast, Van Dam lifted the lid on how the appearance came together.
“It was an invite that happened without a lot of notice at all. It was awesome to be there, the 25th Anniversary, I believe, for SmackDown. They had shown some legends in the crowd. It was cool to be part of that.
Katie (Forbes) came because she loves WWE and she loves RVD, so it was cool to have her by my side. Everybody was really cool. It was cool to see everybody. I talked to Mr. Paul Heyman for quite a while and got to hang out. It was good to see him. He is obviously one of my closest friends there, but everybody, it was a good vibe.
It was a one day notice to fly out there. Wednesday, ‘Sorry about the short notice. You have to leave tomorrow. Are you available on Friday’, and I was.”
Van Dam added that he and the other Hall of Famers in attendance filmed some new content for the company, likely for a project that will land on Netflix.
I did some interviews for some, I don’t know if it’s going to be a DVD, or actually I think it might be a Netflix release. I’m not really sure. We all did. We all took turns doing some interviews and stuff, so that was pretty cool…
Triple H was really cool. He was in a good mood and I got good vibes off him as well.”
Rob Van Dam Open To In-Ring WWE Return
Back in April, Rob Van Dam admitted he’d be open to getting back in a WWE ring, but he won’t be making the first move. RVD later added that he wasn’t sure whether a call would be forthcoming as he had been closer to Vince McMahon than the current head of creative Triple
In July RVD made his pitch for one more match with John Cena after the 16-time World Champion announced he’ll retire in 2025.
