Seth Rollins Pays Tribute To Late Stars At WWE MSG Show

Seth Rollins put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line at WWE’s Boxing Day show in Madison Square Garden but had something to say for two late wrestling stars.

Seth Rollins was the headline act in Madison Square Garden on Boxing Day as he put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Drew McIntyre in a No Disqualification, No Count Out match. Ultimately Rollins retained his gold to fight another day as champion but he had a message for the fans in New York City after the bout.

Seth Rollins paid tribute to the late Brodie Lee who passed away on Boxing Day 2020 and Bray Wyatt, who died in August 2023. Rollins said:

We are packed from the front row to the nosebleeds in the most famous arena in the world. Thank you, Madison Square Garden. There’s just one more thing I gotta do tonight. Today is the twenty-sixth of December. A few years back, my good friend, our good friend Brodie Lee passed away. I miss him.

Just a few months ago, we lost Windham Rotunda as well. But earlier tonight, when the nights went down, I saw some fireflies out there in the Garden. Yeah, yeah, yeah, man. So look, here’s the deal. They’re kicking me out of here, we got a curfew. But I’m not leaving this building until you guys light this place up with those fireflies and you sing my damn song so loud Brodie and Windham can hear you, baby. Let’s go, New York. I love you forever.

Seth Rollins’ Rival Also In Action In MSG

While Rollins managed to hang on to his gold in Madison Square Garden, he may have kept one eye on what happened earlier in the night.

CM Punk wrestled his first WWE match in almost a decade on the show, defeating Dominik Mysterio with a GTS to pick up the win. Rollins has made no secret of his disdain for Punk and it seems that the two men are on a collision course in WWE sooner rather than later.
