Seth Rollins To Defend World Heavyweight Title At SummerSlam
Whilst Damian Priest still lurks with his Money In The Bank briefcase, Seth Rollins now knows who he’ll defend his title against at SummerSlam.
Since winning the newly established World Heavyweight Championship at Night Of Champions, Seth Rollins has had a pretty extensive list of challengers lined up in front of him. Having defeated AJ Styles in the tournament final to win the title, he has gone on to defeat the likes of Damian Priest, Bron Breakker and Finn Balor. However, it seems to be the Judgment Day members who keep cycling back round to go after the belt.
At Money In The Bank, Damian Priest won the signature match to claim the briefcase and know he’s got a shot at a title any time he wants. With his sights seemingly set on Rollins, he accidentally cost Finn Balor his match for the championship later in the night. While the team are still functioning together, both men clearly have designs on the title.
On the 17th July 2023 edition of Monday Night Raw, Judgment Day hit the ring with both Priest and Balor making it clear they want Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship. Later in the night during an interview with Byron Saxton, Rollins was interrupted by Balor who laid down the challenge face to face before attacking the title holder. The match was then confirmed between the pair, set to take place at SummerSlam on 5th August. The battle for the night wasn’t done there, as Rollins chased Balor from ringside at the start of Judgment Day’s Tag Team Championship match against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
As well as Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor, it was also confirmed that Cody Rhodes will face Brock Lesnar once again at SummerSlam, whilst it seems like we’re also set to see Ronda Rousey take on Shayna Baszler.
