Second-Generation Talent Vows To Retire WWE Champion Cody Rhodes
A second-generation wrestling star wants to be the person to retire current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, but they might have to wait a while.
Cody Rhodes is part of a wrestling family with his father, Dusty Rhodes, a legendary figure who claimed the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on three occasions. The American Dream’s long association with the business meant that Cody and his elder brother Dustin grew up immersed in wrestling.
Little wonder that both men have carved out long and successful careers in the business. Dustin Rhodes is currently out of action after undergoing knee surgery, but he had recently captured the TNT Championship in AEW. The first man to hold that title was his younger brother Cody Rhodes, one of the founding fathers of All Elite Wrestling.
Now WWE Champion, Rhodes lost that TNT Title in brutal fashion to the late, great Mr Brodie Lee. The American Nightmare had the honour of being Lee’s last opponent when he defeated him for the gold in a hard-hitting dog collar match.
And while Rhodes was Mr Brodie Lee’s final opponent, one young wrestling star wants to complete that circle.
Cody Rhodes Has To Retire One Day
Brodie Lee Jr. – known to AEW fans as Dark Order’s Negative One – revealed on Casual Conversations that he wants to be the one to retire Cody Rhodes:
There is something that I will (…) something will happen where Cody will retire, and I will (…) be it. I will do my best to retire Cody Rhodes. That’s all I’m going to say.
