Saraya Says There’s Room For A Women’s Tag Team Division In AEW

Saraya has spoken about how she believes AEW could definitely handle a women’s tag team division.

Following a five-year absence from pro wrestling following a broken neck that required surgery in 2017, Saraya made her triumphant return to the ring at AEW Full Gear when Saraya defeated former AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker.

Looking ahead, Saraya will team up with a mystery partner against Baker and current AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter on the January 11th episode of Dynamite in Los Angeles.

In an interview with Forbes, Saraya talked about how she would support an all-women’s show in AEW and would also like to see a women’s tag team division.

“I’m always for an all-women’s show, for sure. I feel like there could be a tag division we could get going as well. Like [women’s] tag team championships. I don’t think we should load wrestling with a ton of championships, but there is space for a women’s tag division, too.”

As she continued, Saraya mentioned that AEW has a lot of women backstage that rarely get to be on television, so having Women’s Tag Team Titles could give more opportunities to wrestlers on the roster.

“There are a lot of women we have backstage that are not on the show, and that could give them an opportunity to be on the show. There is always so much we could do with the women, and people don’t realize how much talent we have backstage.”

It’s unknown if AEW will have Women’s Tag Team Titles any time soon. Most episodes of AEW Dynamite and Rampage only have one women’s match per show, so that would likely need to change if they want to create Women’s Tag Team Titles some day in the future.
