Saraya Sends Message To Mercedes Mone
Saraya has a message for Mercedes Mone.
On the biggest night of her career, Saraya walked to the ring with her family to the strains of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’ before she captured the AEW Women’s Championship at a record-setting All In.
However, the Queen of Wembley was not the only woman causing a stir in London as Mercedes Mone was shown watching the show in the crowd. Mone was first shown to fans in the stadium on the pre-show and again on the pay-per-view itself after The Acclaimed and Badd Ass Billy Gunn won the AEW Trios Championship from The House of Black.
Speaking at the post-All In media scrum, Saraya and Tony Khan discussed Mercedes Mone being at the show and while Khan noted that Mone is not currently cleared to compete, the new AEW Women’s Champion had a simple message for the star:
“That’s right, bring her on. I saw her and thought, ‘Okay, she’s going to be watching, great.’ We already have history. I wanted to win the championship in front of her, honestly. I know if she were to ever come in, she’s going to try and get this. I say, absolutely, bring her on. Mercedes, if you’re watching this, we can’t wait for you to finally join us.”
What is Saraya and Mercedes Mone’s history?
Saraya’s rise to the top of AEW is even more remarkable given the fact that she was forced to step away from the ring for several years due to suffering a serious neck injury.
That injury was suffered during a six-woman tag team match in December 2017 while she was part of WWE. In that match, it was a move performed by Mercedes Mone – then known as Sasha Banks – that led to the injury although publicly there has never been any ill-will between the two women.
