Saraya Reveals Disguise She Used Ahead Of AEW Debut
Saraya, the former Paige, made her blockbuster AEW debut on Grand Slam Dynamite, but how did she manage to get into Arthur Ashe Stadium undetected?
As Tony Khan teased, there was indeed a mammoth surprise during AEW Grand Slam Dynamite, as Saraya – formerly known as Paige in WWE – made her unannounced debut for the company. ‘The Anti-Diva’ saved Toni Storm and Athena from Dr Britt Baker, D.M.D, Jamie Hayter, and Rebel, standing tall with her former WWE colleagues.
Given her now-former status as a top free agent, Saraya required a disguise to gain entry to the stadium without being spotted. As revealed on her Instagram story, the two-time WWE Divas Champion was hilariously hidden with an oversized sweatshirt and sunglasses.
Fightful Select reported prior to Grand Slam Dynamite that Saraya had received interest from AEW. However, it’s believed that WWE was also keen to get her back under contract under the new regime. She officially left the company at the start of July, having been appearing in non-wrestling capacities for five years.
Saraya hasn’t wrestled since December 2017, suffering a career-ending neck injury during an untelevised live event. Now on the official AEW roster with a win/loss record, there’s a possibility that this will change, though nothing is yet confirmed.
