Saraya Appears To Criticize AEW’s Booking Of The Outcasts
Saraya doesn’t seem thrilled with AEW’s handling of The Outcasts.
Saraya found like-minded individuals in Toni Storm and Ruby Soho as they formed The Outcasts in AEW. Leaning into their history as former WWE stars, the trio of spray paint-wielding villains took the fight to the AEW’s original female competitors.
Such was the interest in The Outcasts battles in AEW that there were suggestions that the group could be the cornerstone of the first-ever female Blood and Guts match in company history but it proved not to be in no small part due to the injury suffered by former AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter. Tony Khan explained why that idea just “wasn’t feasible” in 2023.
Saraya had been absent from AEW television in recent weeks but she seemed to have indicated how she feels about how The Outcasts storyline has played out after liking a critical tweet from Ibou of Wrestle Purists who wrote:
“Kinda feels like the Outcasts story was a big waste of time. Obviously there’s no controlling the Hayter injury but we didn’t get Blood and Guts out of it, the whole surrounding division paused and it feels like very little was accomplished broadly in the first half of the year.”
When did Saraya join AEW?
Saraya was formerly known as Paige in WWE but her time in that company came to an end in June 2022, four and a half years after she was forced to retire from the ring due to injury.
In September 2022, the English star re-emerged as Saraya in AEW and competed in her first bout in the company at Full Gear in November of the same year where she defeated Dr. Britt Baker DMD.
