Saraya Comments On Shock AEW Debut
Former WWE Divas Champion Saraya has broken her silence following her shocking AEW debut at Grand Slam in New York City.
Saraya hadn’t seen action in a wrestling ring since late 2017 after she suffered a serious neck injury at a WWE live event. She announced her retirement from active competition in WWE but remained an on-air character both as SmackDown General Manager and a manager for the likes of Absolution and The Kabuki Warriors.
The English star’s WWE contract finally expired on July 7th, 2022 and with that, she became a free agent for the first time in well over ten years, reverting to her pre-WWE name of Saraya.
At AEW Grand Slam Dynamite in New York City, Tony Khan had promised a trick up his sleeve and duly delivered when the former WWE Divas Champion made her debut for the company. Her arrival came as Dr. Britt Baker DMD, Jamie Hayter, and Rebel were attacking both Toni Storm and Athena.
Saraya did not get involved in any physicality but her shocking presence was enough to send Baker and her crew fleeing from the ring.
Now the former Paige has taken to social media to give her thoughts following her debut that had the wrestling world talking:
“F*cking WOW! Absolutely blown away by the pop in the stadium and the reception outside of it. Been a long journey. Couldn’t be happier to be in @AEWthank you to everyone! and thank you to my babe @RonnieRadkefor letting me use his song Zombified! LFG!!”
