Saraya On What It’s Like Challenging For AEW Women’s Title
Saraya has shared her emotion ahead of tonight’s Title opportunity, stating “I never thought I’d see this day.”
At AEW Revolution, Saraya has the opportunity to lift the AEW Women’s Championship, stepping into a triple threat match against current Champion Jamie Hayter and fellow challenger Ruby Soho.
Saraya has opened up about how it feels to be once again battling for Titles, with sharing insight that she didn’t think she would ever get this opportunity again after suffering a severe injury whilst in WWE.
Speaking with DAZN Wrestling, the former Paige in WWE claimed it feels “very bizarre”, before adding her excitement promoting the match.
“I never thought I’d see this day, and then to be going up for a championship. It’s such a prestigious championship too in AEW. I’m going straight to the top and I feel good about it. It’s really incredible, and never thought I’d see that day.”
Saraya made a surprise return to the ring last November, defeating former AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker, before joining forces with Toni Storm.
A heel turn by Saraya and Storm has seen weeks of antagonizing fans and opponents alike, which has led to multiple post match brawls with Hayter, Baker and Ruby Soho.
Following a recent clash in Phoenix on AEW Dynamite, Jamie Hayter demanded to face both Ruby Soho and Saraya at the same time, to prove that she is the better wrester and remain Champ.
Should Saraya win, she would become the first female to hold the main Women’s Championship in both AEW and WWE.
AEW Revolution takes place tonight with AEW Champion MJF facing off with Bryan Danielson in an Iron Man Match whilst ‘Hangman’ Adam Page battles Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match.
