Sami Zayn Says One Of His Matches Made NXT “A Thing”
Sami Zayn has credited one of his matches for putting NXT on the map.
Sami Zayn burst onto the scene in WWE back in 2013 and was soon involved in a feud with Cesaro. The two former Ring of Honor stars traded wins in NXT before meeting on the August 21st, 2013 edition of NXT TV in a two-out-of-three falls match which Cesaro won but both men caught the eyes of fans and industry insiders alike with their standout performances.
Responding to a post celebrating the 10th anniversary of the match on social media, Sami Zayn risked sounding “arrogant” to explain that he thinks the bout put NXT on the map:
“At this risk of sounding dramatic or arrogant, this one match changed the industry. This was the day NXT became ‘a thing.’ Hard to explain the significance/context/landscape at that time, but suffice to say it’s one of my proudest matches, with one of my all-time best opponents.”

As NXT began to grow it became a hotbed of talent over the following years with every current main roster WWE champion – with the exception of Rey Mysterio – making their name in the company through its developmental brand in some form or fashion.
Is Sami Zayn out of action?
There has been some concern over the condition of Sami Zayn in recent weeks with the WWE Tag Team Champion apparently dealing with a bursa sac injury.
However, Zayn has given an update on his condition and seems positive that he won’t have to miss time from the ring as a result.
