Rumored John Cena Dream WWE Match Off The Table

John Cena WWE

John Cena will wrestle his last match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 in Washington, DC.

WWE revealed a tournament to determine Cena’s final opponent. Rusev and Sheamus advanced to the next round on Monday Night RAW this week. Many other top names are expected to participate. WWE legend Edge, aka Adam Copeland, was also rumored to return to WWE and compete in a final match against Cena but it looks like that won’t happen.

John Cena and Edge had one of WWE’s most legendary feuds, blending intense battles and unforgettable moments. It kicked off back in 2002 and ran strong through the Ruthless Aggression Era into the PG Era, making waves in WWE history. OG WWE fans know that Cena’s hustle, loyalty, and respect, clashing with Edge’s calculating and opportunistic style, created one of WWE’s most memorable rivalries ever.

In a new report, Fightful Select shut down rumors that suggested the Cena vs. Edge dream match would happen. Edge is currently signed with AEW, making a WWE match with Cena for his retirement tour unrealistic. The report noted that AEW head honcho Tony Khan won’t allow one of his top stars to wrestle in his rival promotion.

Sheamus Pitched To Dethrone John Cena

This week on RAW in Boston, we saw John Cena defeat Dominik Mysterio to become the new Intercontinental Champion. The same night, Sheamus beat Shinsuke Nakamura in the first round of Cena’s tournament. Following RAW, Sam Roberts on his Notsam Wrestling podcast suggested Sheamus could win the tournament and dethrone Cena to become the next IC Champ.

Obviously, you could have John Cena hold the Intercontinental title all the way till the end, and you could have him defend the Intercontinental title throughout. And so, that last match becomes John’s last match, and it’s for the Intercontinental title. And in that scenario, you could have somebody like Sheamus win the tournament, and then, thus, not only is he getting his match with John Cena, but he’s also getting that goal of winning the only title that he’s never won. Next week, Cena will have his final appearance on RAW.
