Ronda Rousey Wins On Ring Of Honor Debut
Ronda Rousey got back to winning ways in ROH.
On the latest episode of ROH TV Rousey teamed with long-time friend Marina Shafir to take on Billie Starkz and ROH Women’s Champion Athena.
Athena thought she’d got the win over Rousey after hitting the O-Face but she wasn’t the legal wrestler. Starkz went to quickly follow up with a Swanton Bomb, but Rousey countered with an Armbar. Although Athena tried to get back in the ring, Shafir stopped her from getting involved.
After some post-match shenanigans, Rousey grabbed hold of the ROH Women’s Championship.
The match was originally taped on November 15th.
Will Ronda Rousey Sign With AEW?
Despite the former WWE star seemingly hinting that she’s got her eyes on the Women’s Championship, it’s been reported there are no long-term plans for her to compete in ROH or AEW. Dave Meltzer was quick to dismiss the notion that Ronda Rousey left WWE to join AEW, noting that she’ll be stepping away from the ring once again.
The veteran journalist explained that Rousey’s recent wrestling appearances have been more about working with her friend Shafir than relaunching a career outside of WWE.
“She didn’t leave WWE to go to AEW. Stranger things have happened, but certainly the idea when she left WWE was that she was done with wrestling and that she was moving on to the next stage of her life.”
Ronda Rousey left WWE in August after losing to Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam.
