Ronda Rousey Claims Vince McMahon Was Legitimately Scared Of Her

Ronda Rousey WWE

Ronda Rousey left WWE largely due to her deep frustration with the company’s management, especially her strong dislike for Vince McMahon.

She felt creatively stifled and disrespected under McMahon’s leadership. Rousey detested how women were treated in WWE compared to men and felt undervalued. Her contempt for Vince McMahon was a significant factor in her decision to leave wrestling.

In her memoir, Our Fight (released April 4, 2024), Ronda Rousey reveals details of her WWE experience, not holding back her disdain for parts of management. Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has said Ronda Rousey “despised” Vince McMahon but maintained good relationships with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. While she felt WWE’s culture was misogynistic and oppressive, she still spoke positively of Paul Levesque (Triple H) and remained friendly with Stephanie.

Another person close to the situation noted that Rousey felt that WWE was a misogynistic culture and by the time she left, despised Vince but remained friendly with Stephanie and had positive things to say about Paul Levesque. It was also noted that while she despised Vince, “she, to this day, loves Dana White.”

Vince McMahon “Was Too Scared To Say Anything” to Ronda Rousey Directly

On The Lapsed Fan podcast, The Arm Collector was asked if Vince McMahon ever said anything directly to her that made her think angry. She answered no, explaining that McMahon was too scared to say anything to her in person. Instead, he employed indirect, manipulative tactics behind her back, which she called “sheisty carny s***.”

Rousey contrasted this with working for Dana White, who was straightforward and honest. She criticized WWE’s leadership style for its dishonesty and indirectness, saying she could not work with people who weren’t upfront.

No, I just kinda didn’t give a f***. He was too scared to say anything to my face, you know? He was like a roundabout d***. I think if he actually said some s*** to my face, he’d get it back, and he knew that, so it was more like sheisty carny s***.

I was used to working with Dana [White], who was the most straightforward person ever. Vince would just say whatever he had to say to get me out of the room and then do his sheisty carny s***, and I was like, ‘The f***?’ I just can’t work with anyone that isn’t straightforward.
