Ronda Rousey Gets New Title Challenger
Ronda Rousey will face one of the toughest challenges of her WWE career after a new contender for her SmackDown Women’s Championship was found.
On SmackDown in Chicago, seven women competed in a gauntlet match to try and become the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Former champion Liv Morgan joined the field alongside Xia Li, Emma, Tegan Nox, Sonya Deville, Raquel Rodriguez, and Shayna Baszler.
Xia Li got off to a good start in the bout as she saw off both Emma and Tegan Nox but Raquel Rodriguez eliminated Li from the bout. Rodriguez then went on a tear, seeing off Liv Morgan and Sonya Deville. Ronda Rousey then informed Rodriguez that she hadn’t won anything yet and then introduced the last participant in the match, her friend Shayna Baszler.
In the battle between former NXT Women’s Champions, Raquel Rodriguez came out on top meaning that she will challenge Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Title on the 30th of December live edition of SmackDown in Tampa, Florida. That is the same show that John Cena will compete on as he teams with Kevin Owens to take on The Bloodline duo of Sami Zayn and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
