Ronda Rousey Eyeing MMA Return For UFC 300
Ronda Rousey could be set for a return to combat sports at an upcoming landmark UFC event.
As reported by The Daily Mail, a source close to Rousey believes that the former Women’s Champion is looking to finish up her current contract with the company and compete at UFC 300. With UFC 296 scheduled for late 2023, the milestone event is scheduled for sometime in early 2024.
The source that spoke to The Mail added that Rousey is currently “at a current crossroads in her life and career as she is looking to see what she might want to do next.” This is reportedly due to the former UFC star weighing up her options of either MMA, returning to acting or having another child. Rousey currently has one daughter with her husband Travis Browne, La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne.
If the return were to take place, Rousey would join Brock Lesnar as a UFC fighter who returned to the promotion after a stint in WWE. Lesnar made his return to MMA at UFC 200 in a fight against Mark Hunt. Lesnar won the return match on the night, but the result was later overturned due to a failed drug test.
When Did Ronda Rousey Last Appear In WWE?
The 2022 Royal Rumble winner last competed at SummerSlam in an MMA Rules match against former tag team partner and long-time friend Shayna Baszler. The match was won by Baszler who defeated Rousey via technical submission. A few days later Rousey announced that she had no reason to stay and had left the company. This is still Rousey’s most recent post apart from a Draft Kings-sponsored post for UFC.
UFC President Dana White has also commented on the rumoured appearance, with White believing that there is “no shot” of the return happening in 2024.
