Ronda Rousey Due To Exit WWE Imminently
Ronda Rousey’s time in WWE appears to be coming to an end very shortly.
Rousey is scheduled to face off against long-time friend turned rival Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam in a MMA rules match, in what could be the Rowdy One’s final WWE match for the foreseeable future.
As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rousey is expected to depart the company soon, which is why the angle between herself and Baszler has been rushed. The partnership disintegrated when Baszler would unexpectedly turn on the former Women’s Champion during their tag team title defence at Money in the Bank against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. The shocking betrayal brings an end to the partnership between the two former MMA fighters, a team that Baszler herself demanded to be created.
It is speculated that Rousey may be in the company for a short time after SummerSlam, but nothing is official as the exact details of what MMA rules will be has not been confirmed.
Prior to the MMA rules clash at SummerSlam, a series of well-received video packages was played on the go-home episode of Raw to promote the upcoming fight. Following the broadcast, a surprising name has been revealed to be the producer behind the vignettes.
Is Ronda Rousey Returning To UFC After WWE Departure?
It has been rumoured that Rousey is to depart WWE to have at least one more fight in the UFC. Rousey is a one-time Women’s Bantamweight Champion in the promotion, and the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Current Fighter Chelsea Chandler believed that Rousey would fight again, but this has since been debunked.
