Roman Reigns Unimpressed By WWE Royal Rumble Challenge

Roman Reigns poses on WWE SmackDown

Roman Reigns returned to SmackDown on January 5th but things didn’t quite go to plan.

In the main event, a huge Triple Threat Match took place between AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and LA Knight. Each of the trio has had their problems with Reigns and The Bloodline, with Knight being the last man to come up short against The Tribal Chief.

It had been announced that the winner of the match would face Reigns at the Royal Rumble, but a surprise appearance from the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion backfired.

Reigns and The Bloodline came to the ring and attacked all three combatants to stand tall at the end of the show. However, while it looked like a case of mission accomplished initially, General Manager Nick Aldis then announced that Roman Reigns must now face Orton, Knight, and Styles at the Royal Rumble.

In a clip posted on social media after the show, Reigns is shown walking through the curtain backstage remonstrating with Paul Heyman before ordering The Wiseman to “fix this.”

When Did Roman Reigns Last Defend The Undisputed WWE Universal Title?

Roman Reigns last wrestled since getting the better of LA Knight at Crown Jewel back on November 4th. The clash was one of only 11 matches the star had in 2022, with just seven of those bouts taking place and Premium Live Events, while he didn’t wrestle on TV at all.
