Roman Reigns Was Almost Seriously Injured Due To 2 WWE Stars’ Botch

Roman Reigns’ first match since his return from hiatus was nearly catastrophic for him.

On Night 1 of SummerSlam, The Tribal Chief teamed up with his cousin Jey Uso as they defeated Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in the opening match.

The match itself was entertaining, with all four participants trading shots and selling moves to the best of their ability to add to the drama.

Reigns is recognized as a mat wrestler and is not known for high-risk maneuvers. But occasionally, he will run and bounce off the ring ropes before leaping onto his opponents outside the squared circle.

It was a move that he attempted at ‘the Biggest Party of the Summer.’

Unfortunately, Roman Reigns’ jump carried extra momentum, as he overshot it and almost missed Breakker and Reed, landing awkwardly and hard on the floor.

The botch drew groans from the audience at MetLife Stadium and the commentators, who wondered if he was okay.

Former WWE Star Breaks Down SummerSlam Botch Involving Roman Reigns

Former WWE star Stevie Richards broke down the SummerSlam botch on his The Stevie Richards Show podcast.

He seemingly laid the blame on The Brons, citing their position as being too close to the ring rather than a bit far.

What went wrong is these two guys. I don’t know what it is with WWE and even AEW and TNA with catching people or the problem with not catching people more accurately…when you’re going to catch somebody, create more distance cos it’s easier to step up into them.

How many times you’ve seen people that they’re too close in and the person crashes and burns? Almost 100% of the time. [1:51 onwards]

In this scenario, Roman Reigns was self-aware and managed to pivot, landing on his back instead of on his neck.
