Roman Reigns’ Words To Paul Heyman Before WWE Hall Of Fame Speech

Roman Reigns Paul Heyman WWE

Paul Heyman has revealed what Roman Reigns told him before Heyman’s WWE Hall of Fame speech.

During the WrestleMania 40 weekend in Philadelphia, Paul Heyman was the headliner at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Since Heyman led and even owned ECW, which was based out of Philadelphia for most of its run, it made sense for the “Wise Man” to be inducted in the Hall of Fame in Philly.

Roman Reigns was paired with Heyman for four years from the summer of 2020 to 2024, so it made sense for the Tribal Chief to be the one to induct Heyman into the Hall of Fame that year.

After Reigns spoke about Heyman, he gave his friend a hug and said something to him. While being interviewed by Stephanie McMahon on her “What’s Your Story?” podcast, Heyman revealed what Reigns said to him and how Heyman reacted to it.

“The whole thing was really weird because, number one, I’m better at improv. I never try to memorize anything. I didn’t want to memorize anything. I wanted the whole thing from the heart. But I knew the first part would be completely out of character.

And when I went out there and I hugged Roman, and Roman says to me, ‘I can’t wait to hear this.’ And he’s walking away and I’m thinking to myself, ‘Man, are you going to be disappointed.'” (Laughs)

Vince McMahon Wanted Paul Heyman To Make Stephanie McMahon Better

Following the death of ECW in early 2001, Paul Heyman signed with WWE as an on-camera performer, and he also worked behind the scenes on the creative team. There was even a time when he was the head writer on SmackDown in 2002, while Stephanie McMahon, who was in her mid-20s, ran the creative team under her father, former Chairman Vince McMahon.

On Stephanie’s podcast, Paul Heyman recalled what Vince McMahon told him during that period when Heyman was on the creative team with Stephanie.

“We were pitted against each other. Oh, of course, of course, we were, we were absolutely. Well, you know, first of all, I just had spent seven and a half years of my life being God of my own universe. I was the end-all be-all.

Now, I come aboard and I’m working for other people, and there’s an approval process where, number one, I was the approval process, and now I’m one of many pitching.

So when I came aboard, I was told, ‘My daughter runs the writing team. Take her out of her game. I want you to be the disruptor in the room. I want you to be the contrarian opinion. Do not make that easier. There’s no nepotism here. She earns that right to manage you, or she doesn’t get to do it.'”

Paul Heyman also admitted on the podcast that he didn’t get along with one of Vince McMahon’s closest allies.
