ROH World Title Match Announced For Final Battle With Unique Stipulation
Ring of Honor’s Final Battle pay-per-view has its first official bout.
The long-running rivalry between the Blackpool Combat Club and Jericho Appreciation Society (JAS) is set to continue at ROH’s pay-per-view event, Final Battle, as Claudio Castagnoli is once again challenging Chris Jericho in a rematch for the Ring of Honor (ROH) World Champion. Back in September at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, the first match was held between the two that saw Jericho take the belt away from Castagnoli — Jericho has been the champion ever since.
The match was officially scheduled shortly after Jericho and JAS began the November 25, 2022 edition of AEW Rampage. During the promo, Jericho was going on about being the best champion in Ring of Honor history, and then Castagnoli would eventually interrupt and issue a ROH Title challenge to Jericho. Originally, Jericho had no interest, however, “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard had an idea: Castagnoli can have his shot at the belt, but if he loses the bout, he is then forced to become a part of the Jericho Appreciation Society stable.
Castagnoli was hesitant at first, but ultimately accepted the JAS counter-challenge.
