Rob Van Dam Loves “Good Energy” Of Popular AEW Star
Rob Van Dam is a fan of Hook.
Van Dam got to share the ring with the rising star on the September 23rd episode of Collision as the duo defeated Angelo Parker and Matt Menard.
The former World Champion was asked about his second appearance in AEW while appearing on the 1 Of A Kind With RVD podcast. Van Dam described the match as a full-circle moment and was proud to make history with the FTW Champion:
“The guys were really cool that we worked with and Hook, really cool dude, good energy. I heard a bunch of times that day after I heard it the first time, Taz and I teamed in that same building, the Van Andel Arena, 25 years earlier. So a full-circle moment for the Taz family and RVD, I guess. So, pretty cool piece of history.”
Later in the episode, a fan asked if Rob Van Dam would be interested in mentoring Hook so that he could follow in his father’s footsteps. Van Dam said that he would be providing the price was right:
“Sure, sure I’d be interested in that. I just need a little more info on the facts of the J-O-B.”
Rob Van Dam Has History With Hook’s Family
As is well known in AEW, Hook is the son of Dynamite announcer and ECW legend Taz. While RVD teamed with Hook on Collision, the Hall of Famer was on the opposite side of the ring against Taz in 1996, losing to The Human Suplex Machine at ECW Holiday Hell 1996. Having now been in matches with both generations of the Taz family, Van Dam joins The Hardys the only wrestlers to do so.
