Rob Van Dam Full Of Praise For Unlikely WWE Star
Rob Van Dam respects the hustle.
After impressing with the likes of Lucha Underground, AAA, and TNA, Karrion Kross signed with WWE in early 2020. From there, Kross along with his wife Scarlett dominated NXT and he won the NXT Title twice before graduating to the main roster.
However, Kross’s character was changed dramatically when he was called up to Raw in July 2021 and he lost on debut. Following a serious lack of creative direction the star quickly slid down the card and he and Scarlett were released that November.
Despite the setback, the pair returned to the company less than a year later and they’ve become regulars on Raw as part of The Final Testament.
Rob Van Dam Is A Big Fan Of Karrion Kross
During a recent episode of his 1 Of A Kind podcast, Rob Van Dam was asked to give his thoughts on the star. Van Dam explained that he’s impressed with not only Kross and Scarlett as people he likes their hustle and commitment to sticking things out in WWE even when they weren’t going their way.
“He’s a really good dude, from first-hand experience. When I got to IMPACT I’m not sure which time, it would have been the second time, which was 2020 or something, but when I went to TNA/IMPACT, Karrion Kross was there just for a second.
He was there for the first few shows, for a little while, and then I don’t know if he left to go to WWE or what, I can’t remember, but his girlfriend, Scarlett, and Katie are really good friends, so that was kind of my introduction to him.
Definitely get two thumbs up from RVD, very cool people, I appreciate them, and the hustle too. When I see somebody get told by everyone, ‘Man, they’re gonna push you to the moon, look at you,’ and then I see that taken from them, and then I see them figure out what their next move is, then I see them get another shot or whatever, when I follow wrestlers’ paths like that, I tend to, not always, but I can earn a bit of respect for their hustle because I’ve been there, I’ve been through there.
I’ve been through getting tested so many different ways, and so to see them get tested and keep on going and not let it destroy them, and part of that to protect yourself from getting destroyed is not to let your head blow up too big while they’re feeding you all this shit, telling you that you’re the next big thing. You gotta at least leave a little room for skepticism, I think, but that’s just for me,”
During an interview back in July, Rob Van Dam admitted he’d be open to returning to WWE, although he won’t be making the first move. The star had suggested his relationship with Triple H could be a stumbling block, however, he’s since appeared on SmackDown.
