Road Dogg Says “Maybe It’s Sexism But I Never Liked Women’s Wrestling”

WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg has admitted that he wasn’t a fan of women’s wrestling until he saw former WWE star Paige tear it up with Emma.

Speaking on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Road Dogg noted that before he saw Paige wrestle Emma in NXT, he wasn’t a fan of women’s wrestling:

“I was a huge fan of Paige. Watching her and Emma wrestle one time was the first time I really understood and got [women’s wrestling]. I don’t know, maybe it’s just sexism, but I never liked women’s wrestling. When I saw them wrestle — the effort they put forth, the athleticism and psychology they put into it, totally changed my mind right then and there on women’s wrestling.”

Although Road Dogg didn’t elaborate on which match between Paige and Emma changed his mind on women’s wrestling, the two stars are credited with helping kickstart the women’s evolution in WWE when they clashed in July 2013 for the chance to become the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion.

The English star won on that occasion, and within a year had propelled herself to the main roster where she won the Divas Championship on the night after WrestleMania 30.
