Ricochet Doesn’t Think WWE Tried Hard Enough To Keep Him

Ricochet has opened up about leaving WWE.

In June 2024, it was reported that Ricochet had informed WWE that he would be leaving the company when his contract expired. The star had been struggling to get televised minutes on Raw for several months, although he was the inaugural Speed Champion.

Two months after those reports, and following the expiry of his contract, Ricochet became All Elite, making his debut at All In.

Since then, the star has transformed himself into one of the top heels in the company, earning praise from fans and critics alike.

During an interview in the weeks after his debut, the high-flyer explained that his decision to join AEW came from a desire to have fun. Adding that he loved working with several of the wrestlers now employed by AEW before he went to WWE.

Ricochet Reflects On WWE Exit

While appearing on the latest episode of the Ariel Helwani Show, Ricochet was asked whether he thought WWE was serious about trying to keep him back in 2024. The company had put a new contract offer on the table, even if the star had little interest in signing it.

In response, he acknowledged that an offer was made, but at the time, he felt that WWE didn’t try hard enough to keep him.

“For me, they didn’t try. They made an offer, we just couldn’t agree, okay, I’m out. They didn’t, for me at least, they didn’t really let me know they wanted me to stay. Who knows if that would have changed my mind anyway. This is just my experience. They may feel different. I didn’t feel they really sat me down and were like, ‘We want you to stay.’ Everyone has different experiences. That’s just how I felt,”

At All Out on September 20, Ricochet will team with the Gates of Agony to face The Hurt Syndicate.
