WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat has discussed his early dealings with a young Triple H and says even back then The Game “got” the wrestling business.

By the mid-nineties, Ricky Steamboat was out of the world of full-time pro wrestling but not before he had stepped in the ring with a man that would go on to become the single most powerful man in the entire business – Triple H. Their one and only meeting in the ring came on the 3rd of September 1994 edition of WCW Saturday Night with The Dragon coming out on top.

Speaking to Wrestling Inc.’s Nick Hausman, Ricky Steamboat discussed his interactions with Triple H and says he is open to other’s visions of the wrestling business:

“I worked with H [during his] first year or two in the business when he was with WCW. It was just one of those enhancement matches and wasn’t a main event thing, it was a TV enhancement. But I do remember that as a young kid, he’s one of those guys that had it, that got it. Light bulbs clicked on.”

“When you’re talking to somebody about the story that you tell in your match and very, very good diplomat, let me put it to you that way. A good diplomat and that’s somebody that you need in the position that he’s in because that type of person who may have an idea but is also open to other people’s ideas, other people’s being wrestlers. Maybe their vision of how they see it, he’s very open to that.”

Ricky Steamboat will compete in the final match of his illustrious career on November 27th as he teams with FTR to face a trio of Jay Lethal, Brock Anderson, and a mystery opponent.
