Ricky Starks Facing Ex-AEW Star On Major Indie Show
Ricky Starks will clash with a former AEW star as questions about his future continue to swirl after he was pulled from several shows.
Ricky Starks hasn’t wrestled in AEW since teaming with Big Bill to take on Top Flight on the March 30th edition of Collision.
Ricky Starks has admitted he doesn’t know why he’s been left on the shelf by AEW but has recently picked up his career on the independent scene. AEW approves talent’s indie appearances and now controversy over comments made by GCW’s Effy have led to Starks being pulled from their shows.
In the hours before Full Gear, Starks made a surprise appearance at a GCW event in The American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The AEW star interrupted Jimmy Lloyd before cutting a heated promo where he claimed he refused to be frozen out. However, GCW has now been forced to announce that Starks has been pulled from three company appearances, one that had been advertised and two that had not.
Reports claim that comments made by Effy about Tony Khan and his father Shad Khan over apparent unhappiness over AEW booking the Hammerstein Ballroom almost a month before GCW runs that building are what led to AEW pulling Starks from GCW.

However, Ricky Starks is still set to debut for House of Glory and now it’s been confirmed that he will clash with a former AEW star in a major title match. Starks will meet Mike Santana for the HOG World Heavyweight Championship on January 17th.

Mike Santana officially left AEW in the spring of 2024 after almost five years with Tony Khan’s company. Santana spent most of that time teaming with Ortiz and together they were founder members of Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle.
